BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Regina Otter, mother to Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter, passed away this weekend in southwest Idaho. She was 101 years old.

Spokesman Jon Hanian said Monday the governor will likely be out of the office for the next few days.

The Republican governor regularly mentioned his mother in his annual address to lawmakers and affectionately described his parents as tough and hardworking. Regina and her husband, Ben Otter, had nine children, including the governor. Ben Otter died several years ago.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church in Boise.
