MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Minot’s City Council has voted to raze the city’s airport terminal after a new $94 million facility opens later this month.
The city’s Airport Committee earlier recommended demolition over rehabilitating the 1991 building so it could be used for a different purpose.
Engineers said removing the existing terminal would cost less than refurbishing it, and that potential uses also would be restricted because the building is close to runways and taxiways.
The Minot Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1QcrRUD ) that federal money is expected to fund up to 90 percent of the estimated $450,000 cost of demolition. Rehabilitating the building could have cost up to $1.5 million.
