LAYTON, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a teenage girl and man in wheelchair were hit and killed by cars in separate incidents in Layton on Monday.

The Standard-Examiner in Ogden reports (https://bit.ly/1On5V92) that police say 17-year-old BaiLee DiBernardo was crossing the road in a crosswalk when she was hit by a pickup truck Monday morning.

She was also struck by an SUV and pronounced dead at a hospital. A teenage boy who was with her was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Davis School District Spokesman Chris Williams says she was a Layton High School student who worked as a peer tutor. Williams says school officials sent counselors to help students mourning the loss.

The crash happened about 30 minutes after 42-year-old Adam Brimhall was hit and killed as he crossed the road in his wheelchair.
