MILTON, Wis. (AP) - A 4-year-old southern Wisconsin boy will be House Speaker Paul Ryan’s guest at President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

Logan Barritt of Milton and his parents, Nick and Becky Barritt, will attend Obama’s final State of the Union speech on Tuesday night.

Logan gained attention in November when he told his mother he wanted to use his piggy bank change to send care packages to soldiers overseas to brighten their holidays. The idea came to Logan after he learned about soldiers at school on Veterans Day.

The Janesville Gazette (https://bit.ly/1TQVwpP ) reports donations from the community eventually brought the total to about $1,300.

In a news release, Ryan says, “Kids can be heroes, too.” The Janesville Republican says he looks forward to welcoming the Barritt family to the Capitol.
