PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a 15-year-old boy is dead and another teenager is hospitalized in critical condition after a car crash in north Phoenix.

Phoenix police say a car driven by the 17-year-old was travelling at a high rate of speed about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when it crossed the center line of Cave Creek Road and struck an SUV.

They say the driver was transported to a hospital with severe head trauma and is in extremely critical condition.



Police say the 15-year-old boy who died was a front-seat passenger.

The names of the two boys haven’t been released.

Police say the driver of the SUV escaped injury.
