SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - David Damschen will be sworn in as Utah’s new state treasurer on Wednesday.
He was appointed last month by Gov. Gary Herbert after Richard Ellis resigned from the post to work for the state’s nonprofit college savings program.
Damschen has worked in the office as chief deputy to Ellis since 2009.
The state treasurer is responsible for the collection, investment and distribution of state money.
Damschen served as an executive at American West Bank and U.S. Bank prior to his work at the treasury office.
His swearing-in ceremony will be held at the State Capitol at 2 p.m.
