SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say an off-duty Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested after driving drunk and pulling a gun on a Jack in the Box employee.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1RDzCsJ ) that the Santa Clara Police Department says the deputy got in an altercation with the employee while visiting the Jack in the Box at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday.

Police say deputy was charged with brandishing a firearm and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was placed on administrative leave.

It’s not clear if the firearm was the man’s service weapon.

The Santa Clara Police Department is handling the criminal investigation and the Sheriff’s Office is conducting its own internal investigation.

Roger Winslow, vice president of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association of Santa Clara County, called the deputy’s behavior unacceptable.
