DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit-area man has been arrested in the Christmas Eve carjacking and slaying of a church musician.
Detroit police say Charles Cox is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, carjacking and armed robbery. Cox also faces weapons charges.
He was arraigned Thursday and jailed. A probable cause hearing will be held Jan. 22.
Police say 33-year-old Anthony Tolson was ordered out of his Chevy Trailblazer and shot on the city’s east side. He had just left a Christmas Eve church service and was heading to his mother’s home.
Tolson’s guitar and gifts for his children were inside the SUV which was taken.
Investigators are seeking an 18-year-old Inkster man who also is a suspect in the slaying.
The Associated Press was unable Thursday to determine if Cox has a lawyer.
