MUNISING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say an Indiana man has died following a snowmobile crash in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Michigan State Police say 57-year-old Steve Short of Fort Wayne was riding Wednesday in Alger County’s Munising Township when he lost control, crossed a roadway and struck a snowbank.

The snowmobile overturned. Police say he was thrown from the snowmobile and died.

The crash happened near a Hiawatha National Forest campground access road. Police say excessive speed was a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
