SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A former San Antonio police officer has pleaded no contest to stealing drugs, weapons and about $2,000 from a couple while on the force.

Konrad Chatys entered his plea Thursday to felony theft by a public servant. Four other counts will be dropped.

Prosecutors are recommending three years of probation, about $6,000 in fines and restitution and requiring Chatys to give up his peace officer’s license

Chatys was arrested days after a Dec. 31, 2014, disturbance call involving a couple at a San Antonio residence.

The woman later reported the theft to police.

An attorney for Chatys says he seized the property as evidence in a drug case. Prosecutors say the officer never reported confiscating the items.

The man and woman were never charged.

Chatys resigned amid the investigation.
