NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A man has been arrested after police say he robbed a 13-year-old at gunpoint in New Orleans, stealing the child’s self-balancing scooter, also known as a hoverboard.
In a statement, the New Orleans Police Department says 19-year-old Tryan Smith was arrested Wednesday and charged with armed robbery.
Police say the boy was riding his hoverboard Tuesday evening when Smith approached him and pulled out a gun, demanding the victim’s hoverboard.
Police say Smith then fled on foot with the two-wheeled scooter.
Police say officers later found Smith with the hoverboard and another man in the driveway of a home. Authorities executed a search warrant and charged the other man, 32-year-old Michael Mabon, with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
It isn’t clear whether Smith or Mabon have attorneys.
