DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas-area woman faces animal cruelty charges after authorities seized more than 40 dogs and eight horses at her property.
Dallas County jail records show Melinda Vinzant was being held without bond Thursday on charges of cruelty to livestock animals and cruelty to non-livestock animals. She’s also facing several warrants related to outside storage issues.
Dallas Animal Services officials say they found deplorable conditions during Wednesday’s confiscation of the animals, including several dead dogs in Vinzant’s home. Authorities responded to complaints from neighbors about strong odors and animals living in unhealthy conditions, such as horses in deep mud.
Online jail records don’t list an attorney for speak for Vinzant.
Officials are trying to determine the health of the confiscated animals, which could be offered for adoption.
