ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (AP) - The former son-in-law of a man found shot to death in Virginia will serve 50 years in prison for the crime.

The Roanoke Times reports (https://bit.ly/1NaZxjn) 31-year-old Daniel Percy Arnot pleaded guilty Wednesday to several charges, including first-degree murder in the death of 66-year-old Brian Edward Foy.

Police say Foy was found dead May 2 in a house near Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta. An investigation led to Arnot, Foy’s former son-in-law, whom authorities found in Toccoa, Georgia.

Through his plea agreement, Arnot received a total of two life sentences plus 146 years, time that will be suspended after he serves 50 years

Michael Anthony Edwards and Carrie Eujenna Ramey, both 25, also face charges, including burglary, in connection with Foy’s death. Their trials are pending.
