SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say a house fire in central New York left a woman dead and a man hospitalized.

Fire officials say firefighters found 31-year-old Heather Taylor and 29-year-old Christopher Mazzae unconscious on the second floor Thursday morning in Syracuse.

Both were rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Taylor died later from her injuries. Mazzae remains in critical, but stable condition.

Officials say 15 people were in the building when the fire broke out, including four children. Most escaped safely.

Investigators say the blaze started on an electric stove in the second floor kitchen. The cause of the fire is under investigation though it doesn’t appear suspicious.
