PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A man accused of stealing a nearly $5,000 bottle of wine from a Connecticut restaurant is scheduled to appear in court.

Scott DeLuca, of Cohoes, New York, will appear Tuesday in Providence Superior Court as a bail violator.

DeLuca was arrested Jan. 8 in Smithfield on unrelated charges.

Smithfield police learned during booking that police in Groton, Connecticut, had obtained an arrest warrant for DeLuca in October for the wine theft.

Groton police say DeLuca gained access to the wine storage area at the Octagon restaurant at the Mystic Marriott Hotel and stole a bottle of 1990 Chateau Petrus wine, valued at $4,800.

Police say DeLuca is connected to similar crimes in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York.

It’s unclear whether DeLuca is being represented by an attorney.
