TRINITY, Texas (AP) - Officials say a 6-year-old girl has died after the golf cart she was riding in, which was being operated by an 8-year-old, overturned in East Texas.

The Lufkin Daily News (https://bit.ly/1PnYE8l ) reports that the Texas Department of Public Safety said the girl died Sunday. The child driving the golf cart in the small town of Trinity had tried to turn around when it overturned and landed on 6-year-old passenger Kendall Lasseter, who lived in Bacliff, a community southeast of Houston.

DPS says Lasseter was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Trinity, where she was pronounced dead.

DPS says the 8-year-old did not suffer physical injuries in the accident.
