COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A new municipal income-tax law designed to simplify tax preparation in the state is in effect in Ohio.
The legislation that went into effect Jan. 1 establishes a uniform tax base that applies to all municipalities that levy an income tax.
The Columbus Dispatch (https://bit.ly/23c5Gra) reports that the law defines the income that municipalities may and may not tax, with a few exceptions. It also changes the municipal income-tax withholding deadline for monthly and quarterly filers to the 15th of the month.
Many municipalities previously had allowed a deadline of the end of the month.
