PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - Charles Oakley and James Farrior are among seven newly selected members of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Oakley played basketball at Virginia Union before becoming an NBA all-star. He collected more than 12,000 rebounds during a 19-year pro career.
Farrior, who played linebacker at the University of Virginia, had a 15-year NFL career. He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of two Super Bowl champion teams.
Other selections are: Rich Murray, former U.Va. sports information director; Dave Rosenfield, former Norfolk Tides general manager; Marianne Stanley, who coached the Old Dominion women’s basketball team to three national championships in 10 seasons; Charlie Stukes, a Chesapeake native who played cornerback for eight years in the NFL; and Robert Ukrop, a former professional soccer standout with the Richmond Kickers.
