TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a 32-year-old Mesa woman arrested in a fatal shooting initially described as a road-rage incident told investigators that the shooting may have reflected a desire to be shot by police.
Holly Davis was arrested Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder and other charges in the shooting of a 19-year-old Arizona State University student from China.
Tempe police said 19-year-old Yue Jiang was shot through her car’s door and window by the driver of another car which had struck Jiang’s car at an intersection.
Tempe police said in a court document that Davis said she might have shot the other driver because she was depressed and wanted to be killed by police.
Davis did not have an attorney when she made her initial court appearance. She remained jailed Tuesday.
