FORESTDALE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an Alabama man faces an attempted murder charge in the shooting of a teenager in a church parking lot.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1V9gUXH) that the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday announced the charge against 22-year-old Debreon Dewayne Lewis of Fairfield.

Lewis was being held in the Jefferson County jail on $60,000 bond. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had a lawyer who could comment on the charge.

Chief Deputy Randy Christian said deputies responded to a call of shots fired near Forestdale at 6:30 p.m. Friday. They found a 16-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. The teen remained in the hospital Wednesday but was expected to recover.

Christian said Lewis got out of a car after a fight between teens in the church lot and shot the teen.
