Man accused of stabbing wife in the head with a meat cleaver

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) - Garden Grove authorities have arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing his wife with a meat cleaver in their apartment.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1OFdpV9 ) that police responded to the scene Tuesday morning and found the woman stabbed in the head. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The children in the home were unharmed.

Forty-six-year-old Thang Van Nguyen has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police Lt. Bob Bogue says Nguyen walked into the Garden Grove fire station, which is next to the police department, and said he had killed his wife. He reportedly directed police to the family’s downstairs apartment, where the woman was found.
