BRIDGEVILLE, Del. (AP) - A Bridgeville couple has been arrested on charges of stealing more than $20,000 from a Bridgeville homeowners’ association.
The Delaware Attorney General’s Office says 33-year-old Jessica McGinnis and her husband, 50-year-old David McGinnis, were arrested and indicted by a grand jury after an investigation.
Authorities say unpaid bills to maintain the Morningside Village Homeowners’ Association’s sewage system led to the probe.
Authorities say bank records show that a fund for system maintenance was depleted by checks written to the suspects totaling $20,167.63.
Jessica McGinnis took over as secretary and treasurer of the association in 2012.
Each faces four counts of second-degree conspiracy and theft. It’s unclear if they have attorneys.
Delaware Attorney General Matt Denn said in a statement that the theft deprived an entire community of needed funds for maintenance.
