KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - A northwestern Montana woman has been convicted of trying to mail a loaded gun, ammunition and other weapons to U.S. Sen. John Tester.

The Flathead Beacon reports (https://bit.ly/1PIgdk4 ) that Cathleen Roselyn Cantlon was found guilty Wednesday in Missoula federal court of interstate mailing of a firearm and ammunition and possession of a firearm after being committed to a mental health institution.

Court records say two packages believed to be mailed by Cantlon arrived at the U.S. Senate mail facility in Landover, Maryland in May. One contained a .22-caliber handgun, ammunition, a knife, pepper spray and a five-page letter that mentions mental health and banking issues. A second package included an envelope with the words “hazard contaminated/dirty bomb” written on it.

Cantlon faces up to 10 years in prison.
