HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The Hot Springs Board of Directors has voted to hire a new city manager, saying his dismissal from a similar job he held in another city wasn’t a concern.

The board voted unanimously Tuesday to hire David Frasher (FRAY’-zhur), former Oregon City, Oregon, manager.

City Attorney Brian Albright says an executive search firm thoroughly vetted the finalists for the position, and that Frasher had talked openly during a meeting with department officials about his firing in Oregon last year.

Frasher told The Associated Press Wednesday that his dismissal was the result of “an environment of chronic political turnover.” He says a new mayor and new city commission wanted to hire a new leader.

Frasher will replace city manager David Watkins, who died in August after a fall at his home.
