SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah lawyer is asking the state to restrict or prevent Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort from serving alcohol at Oktoberfest.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1PG6sc3 ) Attorney Jim McConkie spoke to the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control commission Tuesday. He says Snowbird doesn’t adequately control the sale of alcohol during the German-themed event and should do more to prevent drunken driving.
Snowbird Senior Vice President Tom Jones disputes McConkie’s allegations. He says Snowbird has never been cited in its 44-year history of sponsoring the event and that safety is a top priority.
McConkie sued Snowbird in September on behalf of Brent and Laura Anderson after the couple and their 23-year-old son were attacked by drunken Oktoberfest patrons in 2014. Snowbird has filed a motion to dismiss the suit.
