PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island resident says her dog was attacked by two coyotes.

The owner of 7-year-old Bella tells WPRI-TV (https://bit.ly/1nyj5d2 ) the dog was bitten twice by coyotes near her home in Portsmouth.

The Weimaraner received stitches and survived Monday’s attack.

Footage was captured of a coyote walking in the Gaspee Point section of Warwick on Friday.

Experts say coyotes are seen more often between January and March, which is mating season. They are usually timid animals that run away when they see humans.

Portsmouth officials are asking people to be on the lookout for coyotes.
