LITCHFIELD, Minn. (AP) - A former Meeker County sheriff’s deputy is free on his own recognizance after an initial court appearance on charges of stealing prescription drugs from a take-back program and gifts from a holiday toy drive.
Thirty-three-year-old Travis Sebring, of Grove City, was charged Thursday with eight theft and drug counts, plus misconduct by a public officer.
The complaint says Sebring was caught on video taking drugs from a secured take-back box in the Meeker County Law Enforcement Center. He was also recorded taking bags of toys donated for families in need. It says he admitted to stealing the drugs for personal use and the toys to give to family members.
Sebring resigned Tuesday. His home phone rang unanswered Thursday. Court records don’t list an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
