GREENFIELD, N.Y. (AP) - A house fire in upstate New York has left a person dead.

The fire broke out around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Saratoga County town of Greenfield, 30 miles north of Albany.

Greenfield Fire Department Chief Justin Burwell says crews needed about 25 minutes to contain the fire after knocking it down. Burwell says the home was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived. They called in neighboring fire departments for assistance.

State police say someone died in the blaze. County and state authorities are working to determine the cause.

There were no other reports of injuries.

Officials say more information is expected to be released Thursday morning.
