WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser is set to announce the developers who’ll get $90 million in city funds to create 800 units of affordable housing.

The money will go to 12 separate projects in different parts of the city. Bowser will make the announcement Friday in the Anacostia neighborhood.

The Democratic mayor has pledged to set aside $100 million per year for affordable housing in the rapidly gentrifying city. The city funding comes as the independent D.C. Housing Authority has struggled to maintain its properties because of federal funding cuts.
