COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) - A northern Idaho jury is tasked with deliberating the fate of a 16-year-old boy accused of killing his father and younger brother in Coeur d’Alene.
The Spokesman-Review reports (https://bit.ly/23xPkJL ) that the jury will have to determine if Eldon Samuel III was acting out of self-defense, as his attorneys say, or uncontrollable rage, as the prosecution suggests.
Samuel is being charged as an adult in the killing of his 46-year-old father, Eldon Samuel Jr., and his 13-year-old brother, Jonathan Samuel, on March 24, 2014. Eldon Samuel III was 14 at the time of the killing.
Closing arguments are slated for Friday morning and deliberation is set to begin later in the day.
