TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The Latest on the Tacoma shooting by police (all times local):

7:40 a.m.

Tacoma police say they know the armed man who was with a woman fatally shot by police late Thursday night.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool told The Seattle Times (https://is.gd/Twz8dM ) says a SWAT team has been searching the area around Lincoln High School in Tacoma for a man with a rifle.

Cool says they know who the man is and will find him. They are asking residents of the Tacoma neighborhood to stay inside.

The shooting was the first officer involved shooting in Tacoma this year.

Police say officers walked up to the car late Thursday after recognizing him as a man wanted on two felony warrants, including one for robbery. Police say the woman sped toward the officers and one of them opened fire, fatally striking her.

Tacoma police fatally shot a woman and were searching for the armed man who was a passenger in her car.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool tells Seattle TV station KIRO-TV (https://bit.ly/1Qx4Tdw ) residents of a Tacoma neighborhood should stay inside as police search for the man armed with a rifle Friday.
