KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says troopers shot and killed a suspect who opened fire on them after a car chase in the Kansas City area.
The Kansas City Star reports (https://bit.ly/1nWAbBd ) the incident occurred late Saturday after the suspect, who was not identified, led Ray County deputies on a car chase. The patrol joined in the pursuit, which ended in Sugar Creek.
Patrol spokesman Sgt. Bill Lowe says the suspect drove his reportedly stolen car down a boat ramp and then got out of the car before it went into the Missouri River.
Lowe says the man ignored commands to show his hands before pulling out a weapon and firing at the troopers. He says more than one trooper returned fire, killing the man.
