TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Pima County Sheriff’s deputy has shot and wounded a man near Tucson who fled from U.S. marshals last week.
Sheriff’s officials say 25-year-old Kyle Montgomery was shot Wednesday in a rural area northwest of Tucson.
Montgomery was shot in the shoulder and taken to a Tucson hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
He’s been booked into jail on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person.
Authorities say Montgomery was armed with a modified short-barrel rifle. A deputy perceived a serious threat and fired a shot at the man.
Deputies responded to the area after receiving a report of a suspicious man at a store.
When deputies arrived, Montgomery ran into bushes and deputies gave repeated commands for him to come out.
