SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A southwest Missouri sheriff’s deputy has been arrested in a child porn investigation and fired from his job.
The Springfield News-Leader (sgfnow.co/1PQmK0r) reports that 27-year-old Juan T. Jones was charged Wednesday in a federal complaint with possession of child pornography. Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott arrested the patrol deputy himself.
Arnott said at a press conference Wednesday afternoon that he was “disappointed.”
A criminal complaint filed says authorities started investigating Jones in September when a tip came in from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone was storing child porn on a Dropbox account.
The complaint says a search Jones’ Dropbox account turned up 168 videos and about 1,500 images of child porn.
Jones’ attorney, David Mercer, didn’t immediately return a phone message from The Associated Press.
