BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Police say three people were injured after a sports utility vehicle barreled through the entrance of a popular theatre in Alabama.
Local news media reports that the crash occurred Thursday morning at the front of the Carver Theatre in Birmingham. The city of Birmingham says the crash damaged two storefront doors.
The Public Words Department has barricaded the entrance with plywood until the doors are replaced.
Birmingham Fire-Rescue helped remove two people stuck inside the SUV. Police say three people were taken the hospital with minor injuries.
Police say a preliminary investigation reveals the driver of another vehicle ran a red light causing the crash.
The Carver Theatre will be closed until repairs will be made. Theatre officials say they will post updates on their website (https://www.jazzhall.com/carver/carver.htm) when it opens.
