LEESBURG, Fla. (AP) - Police have arrested a man in connection with the slaying of a Leesburg woman in her home in 2007.
Local media outlets report 61-year-old Kenneth Ray Reed faces a second-degree murder charge in the death of 56-year-old Mayola Houser, who was found dead inside her home in November 2007.
Leesburg police spokesman Lt. Joe Iozzi says Reed was arrested Wednesday as part of a drug investigation.
Investigators say an interview conducted and DNA evidence found at the crime scene led them to Reed’s second-degree murder charge.
The case had remained unsolved for eight years.
Reed was booked into the Lake County Jail. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
