LAUREL, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man has been charged in connection with the slaying of his mother.
Police say 61-year-old Yolande Georges was found dead Thursday inside a Laurel home and had “obvious trauma to her upper body.”
Authorities say an investigation led officers to Georges’ son, 25-year-old Dukinson Appolon, who was already in police custody, after a report of a suspicious person walking in the middle of a road.
During contact, police say Appolon attempted to harm himself, causing the trooper to deploy his stun gun. Appolon was taken to a hospital for treatment.
He was later charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He’s being held without bail. It isn’t clear if Appolon has an attorney.
The investigation continues.
