WAYNESBORO, Miss. (AP) - A Wayne County man faces a murder charge for the shooting death of his father.

According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to a home around 1 a.m. Thursday.

WDAM-TV (https://bit.ly/29UgZTf ) reports Deputy Mike Mozingo said an apparent shooting had taken place, and Darrel Jordan was found lying in the yard unresponsive. Emergency responders administered aid at the scene, but Jordan later died from his injuries.

His son, Kyle Jordan, was reportedly in the front yard with a gun. According to a statement Darrel Jordan’s wife, Ann, gave police, Kyle Jordan was acting irrationally, and his father was attempting to calm him down.

The family told police Kyle Jordan has a history of drug abuse. He’s being held in the county jail. It was not known if he has an attorney.
