RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richmond investigators have found that a city employee misused state databases to search for personal information about an acquaintance.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/29FUpsb ) reports that the Richmond City Auditor’s Office found that the unnamed Department of Social Services employee accessed information from the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Virginia Employment Commission and other sites.
The report states that the employee initially denied the accusations before later claiming that the databases were accessed to determine if the acquaintance was alive.
The auditor’s office determined those statements were untrue and later referred the case to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
The employee resigned on June 15.
