HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died after her car was washed off a road by flash flooding in Cabell County.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail (https://bit.ly/29HycLH) reports that Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas says the woman in her 50s died Thursday evening when her vehicle was surrounded by water on state Route 10 outside Huntington. He says two other people in her car were able to escape as it filled with water.

McComas says several emergency agencies responded but weren’t able to save the woman and her body was recovered after water receded about an hour later.

The woman’s name had not been released.
