TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - A truck driver has died in a fiery crash that closed a portion of Interstate 78 in New Jersey.

The crash occurred just after 7:15 a.m. Thursday in the eastbound lanes in Tewksbury Township.

State Police spokesman Lt. Brian Polite says the preliminary investigation indicates a tractor-trailer burst into flames after hitting a bridge support.

The name of the driver has not been released.

The eastbound lanes were closed for the investigation, causing traffic to back up for miles. The westbound lanes of I-78 remained open.

The crash remains under investigation.
