FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - The Army is inviting soldiers and local citizens to see Fort Jackson’s soldiers march, hear patriotic music and savor a fireworks display to celebrate America’s birthday.
The free event is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. at Hilton Field. It also features children’s rides and games.
A flyover starts at 6:30 p.m., the marching ceremony at 9 p.m., with the Army band and a 30-minute fireworks display.
Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Bleacher and grandstand seating are available. Food vendors are available at 5 p.m.
Army officials advise that no pets, coolers, alcohol or personal fireworks are being permitted.
Attendees may enter by car at through Gate 2 on Forest Drive or Gate 4 on Percival and Boyden Arbor Roads.
