LAUREL, Md. (AP) - Police say a woman was fatally shot and a man was shot and wounded at a motel in Laurel.
Howard County police say they were informed about the shooting around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died. The man was taken to a trauma center with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.
Police say investigators believe the victims knew their attacker. A suspect has not yet been identified, and the circumstances remain under investigation.
The shooting occurred at the Turf Motel on Washington Boulevard, near the Laurel Park racetrack.
