CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A former Clarksville attorney has pleaded guilty to one count of theft over $10,000 and will have to spend 40 days in jail in Alabama.
The Leaf-Chronicle reports (https://leafne.ws/2a5Gsbg) Carrie Gasaway will serve the sentence in Henry, Alabama, then be on house arrest for 90 days and remain on unsupervised probation for about three years.
She was sentenced Wednesday in Robertson County by specially assigned judge Paul G. Summers. Investigators said Gasaway had commingled funds between her attorney trust account and operating account from January 2014 through February 2015.
The latest court proceedings may mark the end of a string of court appearances by Gasaway, who has been accused of stealing several clients’ money.
In October, she was disbarred by the Tennessee Supreme Court, after admitting guilt in eight disciplinary cases.
