NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A man and woman have been arrested after New Orleans police say the pair assaulted two plainclothes officers.
NOLA.com/The Times Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/2aiVWre) 28-year-old Eric Sanzone and 28-year-old Brittney Tortorich were arrested Monday.
An arrest warrant says Sanzone was driving a car passenger after midnight when he accelerated around a parked taxi, disregarding a stop sign. The car grazed a group of pedestrians that included Det. Sharon Mahan.
Mahan, who wasn’t in uniform, approached the car and identified herself as an officer. Sgt. Marc Mumme, also in plainclothes, was nearby.
Sanzone allegedly left the car, approached Mumme and slapped him on the face.
The warrant says Tortrich, a passenger, got out of the car and tried to jump on Mumme’s back.
Both were arrested on charges of battery of a police officer.
It’s unclear if Sanzone or Tortorich have attorneys.
