SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a teenager has died after being shot on a Syracuse street in the latest in a string of shootings in the city in recent weeks.

Syracuse police say officers responded around 9 p.m. Thursday to reports of a shooting on May Avenue, where officers found a male in his late teens suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police on Thursday morning identified the victim as 18-year-old Tyshawn Lemon of Syracuse.

Officials say a suspect was seen driving away from the area in a Mercury sedan heading south on South avenue.

The investigation is continuing.

At least four people have been fatally shot and about 20 wounded in Syracuse since early June, including three men injured Wednesday night.
