NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Police have arrested a second man wanted in connection with last week’s shooting of a 10-year-old girl struck in the shoulder by a stray bullet while waiting with her family for fireworks to start.
Officers arrested 19-year-old Mario Garza Monday at a Nampa apartment complex following a two-hour standoff.
Police say he’s one of two men involved in an altercation in Nampa that escalated into an exchange of gunfire at about 10 p.m. June 29 in an area where hundreds of people had gathered to watch fireworks.
Twenty-one-year-old Ezri Garcia was taken into custody that night. Garcia and Garza face charges of aggravated assault with a gang enhancement and rioting.
Police say the girl was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
