CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Charleston man has been found not guilty in a beating death inside a Marmet apartment.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail (https://bit.ly/1WLSh7W ) reports a Kanawha County Circuit Court jury Monday cleared Miguel Quinones on a murder charge in the 2013 death of Kareem Hunter.
Authorities say Hunter was beaten, tied up and buried in a shallow grave in Raleigh County. Quinones’ attorney Robert Dunlap told jurors last week that prosecutors charged the wrong person in the slaying.
Deveron Patterson of Mabscott and Kelsey Legg of Marmet also were charged in Hunter’s death. Patterson is serving life in prison for first-degree murder and Legg was sentenced to six to eight years in prison for being an accessory after murder.
