LATHAM, N.Y. (AP) - Health officials from South Korea are headed to New York’s capital to meet with end-of-life care experts.
Officials from South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea National Bioethics Committee and National Cancer Center are meeting Monday in Albany with experts from the New York state Department of Health.
Also participating are executives with Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and other leaders who have helped develop and implement tools for end-of-life care planning.
Among those tools are Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) and e-MOLST, which helps patients with advanced chronic illness and frailty maintain control of health care decisions about life-sustaining treatment.
South Korea already has enacted a law similar to New York’s MOLST. It goes into effect in February 2018.
