PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities in Arizona are wrapping up a two-year investigation into a drug smuggling operation that allegedly funneled counterfeit prescription drugs into Arizona from Latin American.
Phoenix police say the investigation resulted in arrests and searches of several Phoenix-area shops that primarily serve Latino communities.
A news conference is scheduled late Wednesday to release more information on the investigation.
Scheduled participants in the news conference include representatives of the Police Department, several federal agencies, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and at least two pharmaceutical companies.
